Living Intentionally-Finding Beautiful Things

Beauty.  Goodness. Redemption.  Love.  It’s all around us.  It can be found in our children, the outdoors, the couple walking down the street.  It is found in forgiveness and restoration.  It is found in the sick person healed, the orphan in a family.  It is found in the blue of the sky and the green of the grass.  What an awesome God who creates beauty all around us.  I never want to lose my wonder. I want to marvel at the beautiful things God has created.  I want to marvel at the prayers answered, the relationships created, the goodness he provides.  I long to pursue childlike faith.

I love to see the beauty in the story of my boys.  It is such a blessing to watch them grow into kind, loving, humble, smart boys.  God has placed them in our lives for a reason, HIS reason, it was his design.  The story is sometimes hard, it doesn’t always make sense.  But there is so much beauty to be found.  No more malnutritioned tummies, no more nights spent in the dirt, no more dirty water to drink.  It is the most humbling gift to be able to bless these sweet boys with all of the things we take for granted.  As we live our comfortable lives in America, it is so hard to fathom life without a warm shower or a comfortable bed.  Unfortunately that is normal life for much of the world.  As these amazing people live lives we think are hard, they find so much beauty.  They are so content and so spiritually advanced.  All they have to depend on is God, so HE is their everything.  It is beautiful.

Beauty is everywhere.  God’s goodness in every corner.  Reaching out to us asking us if we are willing to find beauty.  And the harder question, are we willing to step out and make beauty from ashes? Are we willing to step into the hard places and see the beauty?  Maybe it’s in our hearts that we need beauty to take over.  Maybe it’s in our marriage.  Maybe it’s in our parenting.  Maybe it’s how we serve and love.  He might be calling us to restore a broken relationship or reach out to a broken family.  It could be that he asks us to hang out with someone who we wouldn’t normally pursue.  He might be asking us to get of our comfortable bubble and love and serve in greater ways.  As we hear from God and follow him in all his ways, he promises to make beautiful things.  He promises we will find the beauty as we do scary things.  He restores, he redeems, he provides, he heals.  We are the vessel he uses.  When we say yes, we get to find beautiful things.

Let’s step out on the water today friends and wonder at all the beautiful things we find.

“Someone is praying for the things you take for granted”

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – Matthew 25:40
